What is Network Spinal Analysis?
Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) is an evidence-based approach to wellness and body awareness. Gentle and precise touches to the spine cue the brain to move from defense posture and stress physiology to peace, growth, health and wellness. NSA is exclusively practiced by Doctors of Chiropractic.
During Network Care, two "healing waves" develop which are unique to Network. One is a breathing wave that releases tension throughout the spine and body and relaxes the person. The other is called a somatopsychic (or body/mind) wave, which is associated with a dolphin-like undulation or movement of the spine. These waves are related to a significant increase in wellness and quality of life.
Once people experience these Network "healing waves”, they tend to make healthier choices. Suddenly, the exercise, diet, supplements, meditation or prayer that may have been resulting in minimal wellness benefits increased effectiveness. As these "healing waves" progress along a person’s spine it revitalizes, energizes, and helps the body to self correct distortions of alignment and posture. The movement of "stuck energy" acts as a resource for new energy and vitality. Vertebrae of the spine spontaneously realign as one of the "side benefits."
NSA helps the person "inside" who is experiencing disease, and must deal with a prognosis, treatment, and symptoms. With care, they are able to develop new strategies to find tension in their bodies and spontaneously move and breathe to dissipate it. NSA helps the person to use the energy within their spinal tension (and unresolved past and current stressful or traumatic experiences) to fuel the healing process. Network Care helps the internal cues to become so available that people more often act, think, feel and respond in a more productive and healthier fashion. The internal communication systems become clearer to coordinate the body more effectively even during periods of stress and trauma. People have been shown to make healthier choices and enjoy life more while under Network Care. Also, a wide range of physical complaints such as headaches, stiffness, pain, eczema, menstrual cramps, dizziness and many others have been reported by Network patients to improve or resolve.
What is KST? Koren Specific Technique
This technique is based on 3 steps.
First step is asking the body if it is open to work today.
Second step is asking the body where it needs to be adjusted and what position.
Third step is to correct using the Arthrostim Adjusting Instrument.
The ArthroStim is an FDA approved instrument developed by IMPAC technology in Oregon. It has been continuously refined and perfected over its 22-year history. It introduces energy/force/information to the body to realign segments and remove nerve pressure at a speed of 12 "taps" per second (12 hertz); it is a fast, accurate, low force and controlled adjustment.
The ArthroStim gives patients a very specific adjustment, meaning that only the segment that is out of position is adjusted; there is no twisting, turning or "cracking" of joints. This technique permits adjusting in different postures.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a specialized treatment delivered by highly trained professionals. In Canada, chiropractors are required to complete a minimum of 3 years university education, followed by a 4-year Doctor of Chiropractic program at an accredited chiropractic college.
The Chiropractic profession treats health problems directly and indirectly related to the spine. The chiropractic approach is to examine for and treat common health problems arising from changes in spinal function. Its success has fueled its growth to become the 3rd largest health profession in North America. The chiropractic approach to better health is to detect, reduce and prevent nervous system dysfunction (subluxation). The chiropractic profession focuses on natural, preventative health care.
What is Network Spinal Analysis?
Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) is a leading edge chiropractic technique, which has been rapidly evolving over the last 20 years. The effectiveness in NSA resides in its low-force approach, which is very non-threatening to a body in defense due to pain and distress. NSA addresses patterns held in your nerves rather than in your bones and muscles. Your nerves control the function in your muscles and the alignment of the bones. By releasing abnormal nerve patterns, muscle tension relaxes and bones re-align. This restores posture, health and well-being.
So what does "low force" mean?
Low force means that very gentle touches are used in the practice of Network Spinal Analysis. A good comparison is that the amount of force used in most Network contacts is about the same as you'd use to put a contact lens into your eye.
What kind of evidence is there for NSA?
NSA has completed the largest study in chiropractic history, liking quality of life changes with spinal care. The study involved more than 2,800 people under Network Care and was completed by researchers in the College of Medicine at the University of California at Irvine. 76% of the participants in this study reported significant improvements in one or more of the following areas of health:
- Physical health
- Mental/emotional health
- Ability to deal with stress
- Overall life enjoyment
- Overall quality of life
The results also indicated that there was no plateau or maximum benefit, and that the improvements kept increasing for the duration of the time under Network Care. NSA is currently part of the leading edge, both scientifically and philosophically, of health and healing professions. The practice of NSA is an art form in its analysis; the complexity and depth within the various levels of care and in its ability to stimulate a predictable universal healing response in each individual.
What can you expect from your first visit?
At Vitality Chiropractic, your first visit includes a comprehensive health history, a hands-on physical exam to locate the tension in your spine and nervous system as well as your first entrainment (treatment). This hour-long session will bring insight into where and how you, as an individual, have stored tension and stress in your body and will begin the journey to learning how to effectively deal with that stress.
What about my children?
We truly believe that chiropractic care is critically important for children, particularly because many of the minor problems encountered as children often become the health problems we face in later life. By "heading off" these health problems early, we help ensure a healthier life for our children. In particular, birth can be a highly traumatic event for the baby (and mother's!) spine and nervous system and we encourage new parents to come in and have their baby examined and entrained with NSA.
