F.A.Q.

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a specialized treatment delivered by highly trained professionals. In Canada, chiropractors are required to complete a minimum of 3 years university education, followed by a 4-year Doctor of Chiropractic program at an accredited chiropractic college.

The Chiropractic profession treats health problems directly and indirectly related to the spine. The chiropractic approach is to examine for and treat common health problems arising from changes in spinal function. Its success has fueled its growth to become the 3rd largest health profession in North America. The chiropractic approach to better health is to detect, reduce and prevent nervous system dysfunction (subluxation). The chiropractic profession focuses on natural, preventative health care.

What is Network Spinal Analysis?

Network Spinal Analysis (NSA) is a leading edge chiropractic technique, which has been rapidly evolving over the last 20 years. The effectiveness in NSA resides in its low-force approach, which is very non-threatening to a body in defense due to pain and distress. NSA addresses patterns held in your nerves rather than in your bones and muscles. Your nerves control the function in your muscles and the alignment of the bones. By releasing abnormal nerve patterns, muscle tension relaxes and bones re-align. This restores posture, health and well-being.

So what does "low force" mean?

Low force means that very gentle touches are used in the practice of Network Spinal Analysis. A good comparison is that the amount of force used in most Network contacts is about the same as you'd use to put a contact lens into your eye.

What kind of evidence is there for NSA?

NSA has completed the largest study in chiropractic history, liking quality of life changes with spinal care. The study involved more than 2,800 people under Network Care and was completed by researchers in the College of Medicine at the University of California at Irvine. 76% of the participants in this study reported significant improvements in one or more of the following areas of health:

  • Physical health
  • Mental/emotional health
  • Ability to deal with stress
  • Overall life enjoyment
  • Overall quality of life

The results also indicated that there was no plateau or maximum benefit, and that the improvements kept increasing for the duration of the time under Network Care. NSA is currently part of the leading edge, both scientifically and philosophically, of health and healing professions. The practice of NSA is an art form in its analysis; the complexity and depth within the various levels of care and in its ability to stimulate a predictable universal healing response in each individual.

What can you expect from your first visit?

At Vitality Chiropractic, your first visit includes a comprehensive health history, a hands-on physical exam to locate the tension in your spine and nervous system as well as your first entrainment (treatment). This hour-long session will bring insight into where and how you, as an individual, have stored tension and stress in your body and will begin the journey to learning how to effectively deal with that stress.

What about my children?

We truly believe that chiropractic care is critically important for children, particularly because many of the minor problems encountered as children often become the health problems we face in later life. By "heading off" these health problems early, we help ensure a healthier life for our children. In particular, birth can be a highly traumatic event for the baby (and mother's!) spine and nervous system and we encourage new parents to come in and have their baby examined and entrained with NSA.
